DHAKA: India thrashed Bangladesh by eight wickets to win the Asia Cup T20 2016 at Sher-e-Bangla National stadium on Sunday evening.
The match was reduced to 15-overs due to heavy winds and rains in Dhaka before the match.
India won the toss and chose to field. The hosts managed to score 120/5 in 15 overs.
Bangladesh lost their first wicket as 27 runs on the board as Soumya Sarkar was caught by Hardik Pandya from Ashish Nehra’s bowling after scored 14 on 19 balls.
Tamim Iqbal made 13, Shakib Al-Hasan 21 and Sabbir Rahman 32 runs.
Mahmudullah smashed 33 off just 13 balls which included two 4s and two 6s to help post the hosts a massive 121 run target.
The Indian side reached the target of 121 runs with seven balls and eight wickets to spare.
India lost their first wicket with five runs as Rohit Sharma was caught by Soumya Sarkar from the bowling of Al-Amin Hossain after scoring just 1 off 5 balls.
Kohli remained unbeaten at 41 from 28 balls hitting five 4s.
Dhawan and Kohli put up a 99-run partnership on the 2nd wicket to put India closer to victory. Dhawan was caught from the bowling off Taskin Ahmed after contributing 60 off 44 balls with nine boundaries and a six.
After Dhawan’s, Indian skipper Dhoni promoted himself up the order and score 20 runs from six balls with a four and two 6s.
