DHAKA: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the last match of Asia Cup T20 at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Friday.
Pakistan won the toss and selected to field in the match. Sri Lankan openers Chandimal and Dilshan set up a 110 runs opening partnership to guide their team to a demanding total.
Dilshan struck ten 4s and one 6 in his 75 off 56 balls while Chandimal made 58 off 49-balls with the help of seven 4s and one 6 as Sri Lanka made 150/4 in 20 overs.
Mohammad Irfan got two back-to-back wickets of Chamara Kapugedara and Dasun Shanaka in the 18th over. Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik also got one wicket each.
Pakistan chasing 151 runs to win, lost their first wicket with 23 runs as Mohammad Hafeez was caught and bowled from the bowling of Shehan Jayasuriya after scoring 14 off 11 balls with three boundaries.
Dilshan reduced Pakistan to 58/2 after getting Sharjeel Khan caught by Kapugedara. Sharjeel contributed 31 runs from 24 balls with the help of five fours and a six.
Then Sarfraz and Umar set up a 36 runs partnership on the third wicket for Pakistan. Sarfraz Ahmed was leg before after scoring 38 off 27 balls.
The 56-run partnership between Akmal and Malik was broken by Nuwan Kulasekara as Akmal was caught by Thisara Parera after scoring 48 runs with four 4s and two 6s.
Umar Akmal was the Man of the Match.
